Description

"It literally looked like I picked it up from a greenhouse and not in the mail"

'Mini White' Fittonia albivenis - Known as "The Silver Nerve Plant" the white fittonia is a spreading tropical perennial from Peru. They are non-toxic and fuzzy pet safe, as well as reptile safe. We currently carry the fittonia in Red, White and Pink. These white-veined nerve plants have many beautiful qualities:

  • 'Mini White' Nerve plants produce 1-2” green leaves with a netting of silvery-white colored veins or nerves.
  • Nerve plants bloom in Spring with tiny yellow or white flowers on small spikes, but their vibrant leaves are what put on the real show.
  • The Mini White is a great plant for terrariums and fairy gardens, as houseplants or as bedding, or can be put in a hanging planter and allowed to trail.
  • Plants will spread as ground cover or will trail over the sides of hanging baskets and planters if allowed free reign. Pinching off shoots that grow leggy will encourage the plant to grow fuller and more bushy.
  • Your Mini White will arrive in a 2" plastic nursery pot or a 2.5” terra cotta pot for an additional charge. In maturity, plants can grow to be 3 - 12” tall with proper care and will trail or spread up to 18 inches.

Basic Care Tips:

  • The Mini White likes to be indoors when temperatures dip below 55 degrees. Cold hardy outdoors year round in Zones 10-11, in bright shade. Normal room temperature inside is ideal.
  • Plants prefer bright indirect light and don't care for direct sun.
  • Keep the soil moist. Nerve plants get very dramatic when under watered, and the Mini White is no exception. In time they will perk back up if watered.
  • The Mini White does not like cold water. Allow water to sit out until reaching room temperature to avoid shock.
  • Mist or place on a tray of rocks or pebbles to increase humidity.
  • During the Spring-Fall growing season, fertilize weekly with a very weak, balanced fertilizer.

See our care guide for more detailed instructions.

"I've now ordered them from several places, and they've always showed up partially or totally fainted, but this fittonia showed up still 100% perky!"

Unboxing Instructions: When plant arrives, pot will be wrapped to reduce soil loss. Remove paper and packaging materials and cut out of wrapping and water thoroughly. If repotting, use a peat based soil in a small pot, as Nerve plants have shallow roots. Any leaf tips lost during repotting can be placed back into the soil to propagate.

A very healthy looking and beautiful plant. I ordered several plants in plastic and terra cotta, but settled on this one to review because it's my favorite. They came carefully packaged and the soil was still moist after several days in the mail. I would recommend buying from this shop in the future!

Winter Shipping

96 hour HEAT PACKS are available under the Accessories category. Due to the colder weather and the postal delays from Covid-19 and the increased number of packages during the holidays, we are only offering the larger, 96 hour heat pack and are upgrading all orders with a heat pack to Priority to hopefully ensure that the heat pack is still working upon arrival.

If the daytime temperature in your area or mine is below 45 degrees, we recommend a heat pack. If your area is going to be extremely cold, then you may need two heat packs. If you do not want to include heat packs during cold weather, then you take full responsibility if your plant freezes. We may check the weather between South Carolina and your location, and send a message to recommend adding a heat pack. We do not leave our plants outside for the post office to pick them up and instead take the plants to the post office before the postal truck comes at 4pm so that they are not sitting outside in the elements. We want to provide you with the highest quality plants possible and between our cost and the extra added cost of shipping, there is no mark up on heat packs and they are simply provided as a service to ensure your plants arrive safely.

ABOUT 96 HOUR HEAT PACKS

They last at least 96 hours. Due to mail delays, we are only offering the 96 hour heat pack at this time. For an additional $7 charge, we are offering a shipping upgrade to priority shipping with an included heat pack. We cannot be responsible for plants that were damaged by extreme cold where a heat pack was not purchased, so please check your weather and take postal delays into consideration.
